Graham qualified from the Royal Veterinary College in 1983 and spent several years in mixed practice in the UK before working in Sydney, Australia in equine practice. He returned to join Three Counties Equine Hospital in 1990.
His particular interests are sports medicine and gastroenterology. He is the Senior Veterinary Surgeon at Ludlow Racecourse, regularly attends Worcester races, and is on the veterinary team for Aintree’s Grand National meeting too.
In addition to this he does several days a year as a British Horse racing Authority veterinary surgeon.
Graham has spent over 15 years working with the Australian Equestrian Team as their UK-based vet and regularly attends the major 3 day events in the UK and Europe as part of their support team. He has attended 6 World Games and 5 Olympic Games with the last one being in Rio in 2016. He also enjoys Point to Pointing and National Hunt Racing and has interests in both codes but to date has failed to make enough money on which to retire! As a washed-up rugby player and referee, Graham now enjoys spectating at as many major internationals as he can get to and has recently developed a penchant for test cricket. He also enjoys travel and particularly enjoys wildlife tours, having been tiger watching in India and whale watching in Australia.

James qualified from Bristol University in 1991. After qualifying, he spent a couple of years in mixed practice. He has worked part-time at TCEH since he joined the practice in 2002.
James combines part-time work at the practice with event riding. He represented England in the European Event Championships at Blenheim in 2005.

Following graduation from the Royal Veterinary College in 2010, Helen spent three years in a large mixed practice in South Wales. She joined TCEH in 2013 as a House Surgeon before becoming a permanent member of both the hospital and ambulatory teams. During this time, she has attained her Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Equine Medicine. Her professional interests include medicine, young stock, anaesthesia and lameness.
In her free time Helen enjoys trail running and walking her dogs, Tilly and Damson. Some unexpected free time in 2020 saw Helen develop her ‘green thumb’ and she is now the proud, self-appointed head gardener of a productive vegetable garden. She also enjoys exploring the globe and going on adventurous holidays with her husband David.

Vittorio graduated from the University of Turin (Italy) in 2015 and went on to begin a PhD program focused on abdominal surgery. Motivated by a strong interest in equine surgery, he later undertook an 18-month internship at Three Counties Equine Hospital, where he continued to develop his clinical and surgical expertise.
Following the internship, Vittorio commenced a comprehensive residency in equine surgery at TCEH, delivered in collaboration with Donnington Grove Equine Vets. His clinical interests encompass all areas of equine surgery, with particular emphasis on abdominal procedures and fracture repair.
In 2025, Vittorio was awarded the Diploma of the European College of Veterinary Surgeons (ECVS), officially becoming a European Specialist in Equine Surgery.
Outside of his professional work, Vittorio has competed at both national and international levels in eventing. He also has hands-on experience in National Hunt and Flat racing yards in Ireland. Beyond the equine sphere, he enjoys running, skiing, and sailing.

Kate graduated from Edinburgh R(D)SVS in 2003 and carried out equine duties in a busy mixed practice in Northumberland for 6 years before returning to her home county of Cheshire for 9 years as a full-time equine vet; becoming a partner there in 2014. Kate thoroughly enjoys all routine equine work including lameness and poor performance investigations and all aspects of sports horse work. She also has a particular interest in thoroughbred racing. She is an FEI treating vet and one of the attending vets on duty at Aintree Racecourse for the Grand National and Becher’s Chase meetings and is a Senior Veterinary Surgeon at Chester, Bangor- on- Dee and Haydock Park Racecourses. She has also obtained a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice in Equine Lameness Diagnostics and therapeutics.

Lauren is a specialist in Equine Internal Medicine with a broad range of interests in this field including infectious diseases, parasitology and ophthalmology. Following graduation from Liverpool University in 2010 Lauren worked in mixed practice before undertaking an internship at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center, a large equine hospital in California. Lauren then worked in first opinion equine practice in Hertfordshire for four years, during which time she completed her certificate in advanced veterinary practice. Following this, she underwent a four year residency training program with masters by research at Glasgow University including board examination to become a specialist in internal medicine. Lauren has published on liver disease in horses and her masters thesis was based on trypanosomiasis (a blood borne parasite) in working equids in West Africa. Outside of work, Lauren enjoys visiting friends, exploring hills with her border collie and mini-mongrel in tow, or travelling to warm waters to fit in some scuba diving!

Rossella graduated from the University of Perugia, Italy, in 2018. She was then awarded an Erasmus traineeship at Troytown Grey Abbey Equine Hospital in Kildare, Ireland, where she spent six months. Following this, she completed a 13-month internship at Fethard Equine Hospital, Ireland, with rotations in diagnostic imaging, anaesthesia, surgery, and internal medicine and she developed a strong interest in equine surgery. In May 2021, Rossella joined the team at TCEH as a house surgeon for 18 months. She went on to work as an ambulatory veterinarian while also supporting the hospital’s emergency and anaesthesia services for further 18 months. In March 2024, she began an Equine Surgery Residency at TCEH. Her interests include all areas of equine surgery, with a particular passion for abdominal surgery and fracture repair.
Outside of work, Rossella enjoys outdoor climbing, trekking, playing the cello and guitar, and cooking traditional Italian dishes.

Graduated from the University of Naples Federico II, Italy, in 2019. During her university career she completed a one year Erasmus at the Universidad de Zaragoza an two months traineeship at the Equine hospital of the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. Straight after graduation, Marianna did a two weeks externship at Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital in Kildare, Ireland, and finally attended a one year internship at the UCD in Dublin. She moved back to Italy and started equine ambulatory work in 2021 and then joined TCEH in 2022. Her main interests are orthopaedics, orthopaedic surgery, sport medicine and rehabilitation and diagnostic imaging. Plans for next year: to start a Certificate in Equine lameness and the ISELP modules.
Outside of work, Marianna loves practising sports, especially weight-lifting, swimming and snowboarding and recently started surfing. She loves tennis matches. And is a fan of travelling, art and photography.

Toby graduated from the University of Liverpool in 2023 having completed degrees in both Veterinary Science and Bioveterinary Science.
Following this, he spent the next 2 years as a hospital intern at Newmarket Equine Hospital, seeing a wide variety of cases and gaining valuable experience. He particularly enjoyed the anaesthesia, emergency management, and diagnostic imaging aspects of the role.
He joined the TCEH team in February 2026 primarily as an ambulatory vet but can be found doing anaesthesia in the hospital every now and then.
Outside of work, Toby loves running, live music, and sports (a massive Exeter Chiefs and Liverpool FC fan). He is also a very keen baker, and is not above trying to bribe colleagues with cookies.

Gwen graduated from the University of Nottingham in 2019. Following this she completed an internship at Towcester Equine Vets in Northamptonshire, where she spent a further 6 years in first opinion equine practice. She joined TCEH in 2026 as part of the ambulatory team and has a strong interest in orthopaedic work and diagnostic imaging. Gwen has just completed a Certificate in Advanced Veterinary Practice, with the aim to obtain a designated certificate in Lameness Diagnostics and Therapeutics.
Outside of work, Gwen enjoys hiking with her spaniel, Panda, spending time with her grumpy old gelding and the odd half marathon. Eventing and dressage are her equestrian passions, and she hopes to be galloping across country again in the future!

Sophie grew up in Australia and graduated from the University of Sydney in 2017, before completing a rotating internship at Alamo Pintado Equine Medical Center in California. She spent two years in ambulatory equine practice in the UK prior to undertaking an Equine Internal Medicine Residency at the Royal Veterinary College. Sophie completed her residency in 2024 and passed her ECEIM specialist board examinations in early 2025. She has particular interests in neurology and gastroenterology, and has published research on gastric impactions in horses. Sophie joined Three Counties Equine Hospital in February 2026 in a maternity cover role. When away from work, Sophie can usually be found in the pilates studio, hiking up a hillside, or indulging in a good coffee and pastry.
