Dentistry

Dentistry kitAt Three Counties Equine Hospital we have the expertise and equipment to offer a state of the art and cost effective dentistry service.

All of our vets have had specialist training in modern dental techniques and are fully equipped to provide a comprehensive and professional dental service.

Dentistry flushing kitOver recent years this important area of equine health and performance has undergone great advancement, both in our understanding of equine dentition and how it affects the horse's performance and well-being but also in the techniques and equipment we have available to treat and more importantly prevent common dental diseases.

Molar extraction toolsAt Three Counties Equine Hospital we have invested not only in training but also in equipment and have available a wide range of specialised rasps and motorised equipment. We also of course have the facilities offered by our Hospital. These include full surgical facilities along with diagnostic services such as digital radiography, endoscopy and nuclear scintigraphy.

Examining teethAs a referral hospital we accept dental cases from other vet practices and equine dental technicians. Mainly these cases involve extractions of the large cheek teeth or the treatment of secondary problems such as sinusitis. A big advantage to a professional veterinary dental examination is that your horse can be clinically assessed at the same time. For our more nervous patients sedation is available along with pain relief and local anaesthetic where required. Such drugs can only legally be administered by a veterinary surgeon.
